Sewing

Since last year, I have been making aprons to sell in two gifts shops. Since my travel plans have been temporarily put on hold, I have sewn ten aprons. One of the shops needed these before the Memorial Day weekend. If I had been in Hawaii, they would have not had aprons on time. I looooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee to sew and have been doing “so” since I was eight years old. I made all of my own clothes, won a few Singer sewing contests, did alterations and dressmaking including wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses, and made clothing for my children and costumes for my grandchildren. I taught Home Economics including Sewing for 19 years.  Recently I made draperies for a friend, curtains for my own home, and a new dress for Hawaii. So until we take our trip I will keep on sewing.

Here are some of my aprons that are on sale at The Odd Shop in Windham, ME and the Cottage Industries Giftshop in Raymond, ME.

The Best Laid Plans . . .

Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.   The trip was planned, the bags were packed, the dog was taken care of, and . . .  I hurt my left knee, and then broke my right toe . . . two days before our scheduled departure!

So, (heavy sigh) thank the Lord He gave me the presence of mind to purchase trip insurance.  I am on crutches, the trip is postponed until I am able to walk normally again.  But, prayers have been answered.  The forms for our new health insurance arrived after we would have departed and needed to be mailed before we would have returned.  We would have been without coverage for our many prescriptions.  God is good.

Our anniversary

annivpic.gif

We celebrated our 30th anniversary on February 19, 2007. Above is the way we looked back “in the day”.

To celebrate our 30th, we went out to dinner with Priscilla and Paul, who were celebrating 59 years of wedded bliss and got snowed in on their anniversary – Valentine’s Day. Denise and Bob, who are almost newlyweds – 5 years, also joined us.

You can take a look at the website which Carla created for us in honor of our 25th, at:

The Pride of America

I’m so excited! Today I booked our flight and cruise for Hawaii! We’ll be leaving on May 1 and returning on May 15.

The actual cruise is from May 5 – May 12. Before and after, we will be spending time with Stewart and he will be showing us some more sights in Hawaii.

This is a photo of the cabin we will have onboard the ship. It is an ocean-view stateroom. We’ll have all of our meals provided and enjoy touring while cruising to four Hawaiian islands. This is a reward to ourselves for our thirty (30!) years of marriage!
